An opportunity to be a part of building up any new institution provides the privilege to set up a new order. At times it confronts with the great challenge to fulfil aspirations of the stakeholders, irrespective of the fact of infancy of the institution. In the past four years journey of the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, we have laid many a significant milestones.

Professionally speaking, the students of the Five Year Law Graduation Course are being trained in three specialized streams, viz., Business and Intellectual Property Laws; Criminal Law; and Human Rights Laws. Therein, the students, in addition to study of the core subjects, are doing comprehensive courses in specialized subjects of the respective stream. They also work on the  assigned projects and undertake professional training. The Post-Graduate Course in Law promotes scholarship and provide orientation towards research work. The research scholars registered with the University are actively pursuing doctoral research in Law and Social Sciences with Law. The new admission to the Ph.D. Programme is being made through the competitive Entrance Test as per the latest UGC norms.

The concerted efforts being made by RGNUL faculty towards achieving academic and professional excellence gets reflected in the achievements of the RGNUL students at the national and at the international levels. There are eight major accomplishments by students during the Session 2009-2010.

We are making full endeavour to provide congenial environment to our students for professional studies through the best infrastructural facilities and amenities. The upcoming Campus at Village Sidhuwal, Patiala has been designed with a view to meet the aforesaid requirements of the law students. The residential component of the campus would be functional from July 2010.

Still we know, that there is lot more required to be done and achieved. The first batch of graduate students is going to pass out in June 2011. We hope and wish that the young graduates of this National Law School would surely prove their mettle in the arena of law profession. Behind all the aforesaid achievements we find that there is strong motivation from our worthy Vice-Chancellor Professor (Dr.) Gurjeet Singh.
